Typically we recommend business formal attire for a job interview. However, there are some industries, settings and regions where business casual attire is more appropriate. These can include technology companies, startups, companies in California, or interviews that will take place in non-standard locations. We highly recommend that interviewees inquire with the company beforehand and wear more formal clothing if unsure.
If business casual does seem appropriate for the interview, we recommend that the clothes be on the more formal side. A nice pair of wool slacks and a button down shirt should be worn. These should be recently cleaned and pressed. Traditional colors and plain patterns are also recommended to set a more formal tone.
When in doubt, it is better to be dressed more formal than less

Plain traditional colors are a safe bet unless you know the culture of the company
